We’re seeking a skilled Mainframe DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing team driving modernization and automation on the IBM Z platform. In this role, you’ll bridge traditional mainframe development with modern DevOps practices-helping streamline pipelines, improve delivery velocity, and support enterprise-scale transformation initiatives. You’ll work hands-on with IBM Z tools and automation technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in evolving how enterprise applications are built, deployed, and maintained.
Duties:
- Support and enhance mainframe operational environments by implementing DevOps practices and automation frameworks
- Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using IBM Z DevOps tools and open-source integrations
- Collaborate with developers, release managers, and operations teams to improve software delivery and deployment reliability
- Leverage mainframe utilities and scripting (JCL, REXX, ISPF, TSO) for automation and orchestration
- Participate in transformation initiatives to modernize legacy mainframe workflows into hybrid cloud DevOps pipelines
Requirements
- Several years of experience working in a mainframe operations or development environment (z/OS)
- Strong knowledge of JCL, TSO, and ISPF
- Ability to write and troubleshoot REXX scripts
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with mainframe application development using COBOL, PL/I, VSAM/QSAM, or DB2
- Familiarity with IBM Z DevOps ecosystem tools such as: ADDI, IDz, zD&T, DBB, Git, UCD, Artifactory, IBM Wazi Deploy, and Migration Utility for z/OS
- Knowledge of competing z/OS products or tools
- Experience implementing DevOps transformations and pipeline orchestration in enterprise environments
