We are seeking a technically-minded accounting professional to lead revenue accounting and assist with technical accounting matters within our growing fintech organization. This is a specialized role focused on revenue recognition under ASC 606, complex technical accounting research and memo drafting, equity and stock-based compensation accounting, and financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP. The role partners closely with FP&A, Legal, Product, and external auditors to ensure accurate accounting for new products, contracts, and strategic initiatives as the company scales.

This is not a generalist staff accountant role. The ideal candidate brings public accounting experience, hands-on revenue recognition expertise, and the ability to independently research and document complex technical accounting positions. This role will report to the Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Revenue Accounting

  • Lead revenue accounting under ASC 606, including contract review, performance obligation analysis, and revenue recognition decisions for new and existing product offerings
  • Assist with research, draft, and maintain technical accounting memos covering revenue recognition, leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), debt, and other complex topics
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and pronouncements, including impact assessments and policy updates
  • Assist with equity and stock-based compensation accounting, including coordination with Carta for cap table data, expense calculations, and disclosures

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Assist with financial reporting workflows and documentation within Workiva, including footnote disclosures and supporting workpapers
  • Partner with external auditors on technical accounting matters, revenue testing, and audit deliverables

Systems, Data & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Utilize SQL and data analysis tools to query large transactional datasets in support of revenue accounting, contract analytics, and financial reporting
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Product, Legal, and Operations to evaluate the accounting impact of new product launches, pricing changes, and contract structures
  • Support procurement and expense accounting workflows through Coupa where they intersect with technical accounting matters
  • Drive automation and process improvements across revenue accounting, technical accounting documentation, and financial reporting workflows
  • Assist with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related financial reporting processes
  • Partner with the GL team to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • CPA strongly preferred, or active CPA candidate with completion expected within 12 months
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firm) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience applying ASC 606 (revenue recognition) in a technology, fintech, or SaaS environment
  • experience drafting technical accounting memos and conducting independent accounting research
  • Working knowledge of ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 718 (stock-based compensation)
  • Proficiency with SQL for querying transactional data
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex lookups, large-dataset modeling)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting an IPO readiness program, S-1 process, or SEC reporting
  • Hands-on experience with Workiva for financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with Carta for equity administration and stock-based compensation accounting
  • Experience with FloQast, Coupa, or NetSuite in a technical accounting or revenue context
  • Prior experience in a high-growth fintech or consumer financial services company
  • A technical accounting specialist who can independently research, conclude on, and document complex accounting issues
  • Strong written communication skills – the ability to translate technical accounting conclusions into clear, audit-ready memos
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and driving conclusions on novel transactions
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to stay current on evolving GAAP and SEC guidance
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills, particularly with non-accounting stakeholders
