The Lead Technical Business Analyst will analyze complex, non-IT business problems related to credit card originations and credit risk strategy. This role partners closely with product, strategy, and risk teams to evaluate data-driven opportunities, define requirements, and recommend changes that improve portfolio performance and profitability. The ideal candidate brings deep quantitative and analytical expertise, strong programming skills, and hands-on experience within bank credit risk environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze large credit card datasets to evaluate credit strategy performance and risk outcomes
- Assess historical trends and model the impact of changes to credit rules (e.g., FICO score thresholds)
- Develop financial frameworks to assess profitability, risk exposure, and ROI
- Translate analytical findings into clearly documented business and technical requirements
- Author and document proposed credit rules and strategy changes for downstream teams
- Partner with product and strategy stakeholders to align analytical insights with business objectives
- Support ongoing conversion of analytics work from SAS to Python
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or another quantitative field
- Strong SQL and SAS experience
- Hands-on Python experience (required)
- Experience in bank credit risk management
- Proven background in data analytics and quantitative analysis
- Experience working in large banks or fintech organizations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in documenting complex analytical outputs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior exposure to credit card portfolios (strongly preferred)
- Credit card originations or first-line risk experience
- Ability to operate independently in a lead-level analytical role
