The Modeler I supports the data administration, configuration, testing, and distribution of geospatial and electrical grid models core to Electric Delivery (ED) and critical to Ops Technology & Innovation (OT&I) functions. The candidate will interpret maps and/or drawings and make and reconcile model changes in GIS, ADMS, EMS and associated systems as instructed by senior level team members. You will work closely with technical team members to deliver solutions that meet the current and future objectives of ED, in alignment with company strategies and business plans. You are expected to demonstrate great curiosity in pursuit of information and training that will continue their education and acclimate them to the company. Focus Areas: CAD, GIS, G Technology, Arch GIS PRO, Arc GIS Portal and everything/anything ESRI Advancement to a higher level within the progression is based on value added to the Company through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Advancement is not automatic, (i.e., not based solely on time in the job, but will be based on the employee’s performance, qualifications, and the business and/or technical needs of the department).

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors supported applications (i.e., GIS, ADMS, EMS) to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data that supports business operations, as well as the safety and reliability of the electrical grid (30%)
  • Performs basic configurations and tests of geospatial (GIS) and electrical (ADMS or EMS) models to help coordinate the delivery of energy to Tampa Electric’s customers (20%)
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience related to the Responsibilities of this position, working with/supporting distribution or transmission electrical system models
  • Proficient in development fundamentals
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of power flow across electrical grid transmission and distribution devices and systems
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution circuit maps and hierarchy of electrical distribution circuits
  • Ability to read maps and schematics for distribution, substation, and transmission
  • Knowledge of electrical transmission or distribution modeling practices
