The Business Intelligence Analyst serves as the analytical backbone supporting the Sales, Ecommerce, Planning, and Finance teams. This role provides data-driven insights across forecasting, pricing, inventory, and  portfolio management to enable better decision-making throughout the commercial organization. Sitting within the Business Intelligence department, this position brings objectivity, data rigor, and analytical consistency to commercial and operational decisions — while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure customer, channel, and  level intelligence informs every recommendation.

Key Responsibilities

Forecasting & Demand Analytics

  • Analyze demand forecasts produced by the Sales team; identify gaps, bias, and accuracy trends at the SKU, customer, and channel level.
  • Provide recommendations for Sales, Ecommerce, and Planning on forecast adjustments based on historical performance, promotional activity, and market signals.
  • Partner with Sales and Ecommerce to incorporate customer-specific intelligence — new programs, promotions, lost business, channel shifts — into the forecast.

Pricing Analytics

  • Analyze pricing performance across customers, channels (including DTC and marketplace), and product categories; identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Support Sales and Ecommerce with customer and channel-specific pricing analysis for new business, line reviews, MAP enforcement, and negotiations.
  • Monitor competitive pricing and market positioning where data is available.
  • Evaluate promotional pricing effectiveness (lift, ROI, cannibalization) and inform future promo strategy.

Inventory Analytics

  • Analyze inventory health across the network — coverage, days of supply, aging, slow movers, stockouts, and excess.
  • Support Finance with inventory exposure analysis, reserves recommendations, and write-down risk assessments. Flag inventory risks tied to forecast misses, customer program changes, or channel shifts.

SKU Rationalization

  • Lead the analytical work behind rationalization reviews; evaluate level performance across revenue, margin, velocity, customer penetration, and strategic fit.
  • Recommend for discontinuation, consolidation, or investment based on a defined analytical framework. Quantify the financial and operational impact of rationalization decisions (margin lift, inventory release, complexity reduction).

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and self-service tools used across Sales, Ecommerce, Planning, and Finance.
  • Deliver ad hoc analyses to answer questions from leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across commercial, inventory, and financial datasets.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in BI, analytics, demand planning, commercial analytics, or FP&A.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Access.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • CPG, consumer products, pet, or retail industry experience.
  • Familiarity with mass retail customers and their data ecosystems (e.g., Walmart Retail Link, NIQ/Circana syndicated data).
  • Experience with ecommerce and marketplace data (Amazon Vendor/Seller Central, Chewy, etc.).
  • Familiarity with pricing and revenue management concepts (elasticity, mix, promo analytics).

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Analytically rigorous and comfortable working with large, imperfect datasets.
  • Strong business acumen — able to connect data back to commercial, operational, and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborative partner who can speak the commercial language of Sales and Ecommerce, the operational language of Planning, and the financial language of Finance.
  • Self-directed; identifies analytical opportunities proactively.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
