Our Client is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer for a hybrid role. This role will support advanced manufacturing systems. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager on this search. The company offers a strong compensation package, including base salary, profit sharing, and 401(k) match, with a hybrid remote work environment. Summary: This role focuses on the design, development, commissioning, and support of automated manufacturing equipment. The Engineer will work across electrical design, PLC/HMI software development, system integration, startup, and ongoing optimization, collaborating closely with internal teams, vendors, and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and support electrical and controls systems (PLCs, drives, HMIs, power, instrumentation, motor controls)
- Develop and deploy custom Allen Bradley PLC logic and HMI integrations
- Partner with process engineers to improve and optimize existing equipment
- Support equipment specification, build, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting
- Work with vendors on new equipment and system modifications
- Create and maintain electrical and software documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related discipline
- 5+ years of automation engineering experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- 3+ years PLC programming experience (ladder logic, HMI integration)
- Experience with PLC programming/development from scratch (Allen Bradley is preferred but will consider Wonderware and Schneider as well)
- Experience with industrial drives, controls, and machine safety standards
- Working knowledge of NEC requirements
- Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and projects
- Up to 10% travel
- Experience out of Highly Regulated Industries such as Aerospace, Defense/Military, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Automotive, semiconductor industries would be a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Allen Bradley drives, temperature controllers, and robotics experience
- Hands-on electrical design for manufacturing equipment
- ECAD experience (AutoCAD Electrical preferred or similar Electrical CAD package)
- Working knowledge of electrical code and standards for industrial equipment design
