Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Labs System Engineer to support and expand our lab infrastructure. This role focuses on virtualization technologies, operating system management, and server deployment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and related tools, and will play a key role in scaling lab capabilities to meet evolving technical and business needs. Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain virtual environments using VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and other virtualization platforms
- Install, configure, and manage various operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions) across lab environments
- Automate server provisioning and configuration using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform
- Monitor lab infrastructure performance and ensure high availability and reliability
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support testing, development, and validation efforts
- Maintain documentation for lab configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance lab capabilities
- Ensure compliance with security and data protection standards within lab environments
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in virtualization and server deployment
- Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
- Solid understanding of Windows Server, Linux, and networking fundamentals
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration with lab environments is a plus
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Server+
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) in hybrid lab setups
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a bonus
